The discussions focused on key challenges facing electoral processes in the region, including the regulation of political financing, risks associated with online campaigning, and the role of civil society organizations in promoting electoral reforms and safeguarding the integrity of democratic processes.
Polina Panainte, Deputy Director of the Association for Participatory Democracy ADEPT and Secretary of the Civic Coalition for Free and Fair Elections (CALC), participated as a speaker in the panel dedicated to the regulation of third parties in electoral campaigns. Her intervention focused on the role and influence of organizations and other entities outside political parties in election campaigns, as well as on the need for clear rules that ensure transparency of political financing and a level playing field in electoral competition.
The event provided a platform for exchanging experiences between civil society organizations and international partners, highlighting the important contribution of civil society to strengthening electoral integrity and promoting transparent and accountable democratic practices across the Eastern Partnership countries.
