Consultations in Orhei and Telenești on simplifying the voluntary amalgamation process
Representatives of the State Chancellery, members of Parliament, and local public authorities met in Orhei and Telenești to discuss legislative amendments aimed at making the voluntary amalgamation process simpler and more flexible for communities.
The Association for Participatory Democracy ADEPT continues its collaboration with the State Chancellery in advancing the process of voluntary amalgamation of administrative-territorial units, contributing to dialogue between central authorities and local public administrations. In this context, two consultation visits were organized in the districts of Telenești and Orhei, bringing together representatives of the State Chancellery leadership, members of the current Parliament, as well as mayors and local councilors.
During the meetings, participants were presented with the latest legislative amendments proposed by the Government aimed at simplifying the voluntary amalgamation procedure. The changes seek to reduce bureaucracy and provide local authorities with greater flexibility in organizing this process, enabling communities to identify the most suitable forms of cooperation and administrative reorganization.
Among the proposed changes are the removal of the mandatory 25 km distance from the administrative center, the simplification of citizen consultation procedures, and the reduction in the number of documents required from local public authorities. Some of these documents will be prepared with the support of the State Chancellery.
The opinions and suggestions collected during the consultations in Orhei and Telenești will be incorporated into the final concept of the strategic document outlining the next stage of the local public administration reform. The consultation process continues nationwide, as interest in voluntary amalgamation grows and an increasing number of communities consider initiating this process.
