Managing the Omicron variant of the pandemic crisis

The analysis document includes the monitoring of the management process of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis in the period January-April 2022. The report was made in partnership with the "Friedrich Ebert" Foundation.
During the mentioned period, the 5th pandemic wave spread on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, caused by the strain B.1.1.529 (Omicron) which proved to be much more contagious than the previous variant (Delta), based on the authorities' measures the experience of combating the previous four strains.
The analysis reflects the monitoring of the management of the pandemic crisis, taking into account a wide range of factors that highlight the complexity of the challenges for public health: the periodic reporting by the authorities of data on the contamination of the population and its consequences; the evolution of the immunization process; ensuring access to a wide range of vaccines, in sufficient quantities, for immunization; financial support from the state for medical personnel and other professional categories directly involved in the process of combating the pandemic crisis; measures to protect the population by imposing restrictions on movement and presence in public places; receiving materials and equipment from external partners; combating the phenomenon of the spread of false vaccination certificates; providing medical assistance to refugees from Ukraine; cooperation with the administration of Transnistria in order to immunize the population of the region, etc.
